Shelby Bradford MCN, RD, LD
Hello! I am a Clinical Dietitian with a special interest in disordered eating
behaviors. When I was in high school, I saw a lot of my peers struggle with
body image, self esteem, and disordered eating. It was then that I realized my passion for helping others to develop healthy relationships with food. This led me to double major in Nutrition and Psychology for my undergraduate studies.
After graduating from Texas A&M University in 2013, I began my career working in weight management. In that position, I saw just how damaging dieting was to the physical and emotional well-being of our clients. Many, if not most, had significant disordered eating behaviors; I knew there had to be a better way.
In 2015, I went back to school for my Master’s in Clinical Nutrition at UT Southwestern Medical Center where I developed the skill to compliment my passion for improving unhealthy relationships with food. Throughout my time in the program I started working at a facility for adolescents diagnosed with eating disorders. I spent 3 years working alongside a phenomenal team of therapists and dietitians utilizing Intuitive eating principles to bring about real change in their clients. That experience reconfigured my perspective on health and weight. It continues to influence my counseling style, even now in my current position as a Clinical Dietitian in an acute care hospital setting. I really enjoy being able bring this unique perspective to my clients and I can’t wait to share it with you.
Just a few tidbits about me...I was born in Memphis, TN and that's where most of my family is to this day. I moved to Dallas with my mother when I was 2 years old, so I guess I would consider myself a Texan at this point. When I am not on the clock, you can find me laughing at a comedy show, trying out a new restaurant, or on a road trip with friends!
